A Poetess' Craving - Poem | Morocco World News

All I want is a bird wing

Neither a princess gown, nor a diamond ring,

As I seek ever-lasting liberty

Dearest, wouldn?t you fetch that for me?

?**********

All I want is a snug nest

For my soul and brain to rest,

As I seek a room of my own

Dearest, can?t you afford that home?

?**********

All I want is a fine plume

For my mind to speak and bloom

As I seek refined poetry

Dearest, haven?t you vowed to quench me?

?**********

All I want is a fair ink

With each drop of which a wistful tear would sink,

Right into the gray paper;

Dearest, wouldn?t you permit my sentiments to go deeper?

?**********

All I want is a blank sheet

To blurt out what I could never speak

As I seek audacity

Dearest, am I not supposed to voice my femininity?

?**********

All I want is a modest breakfast in bed

?Good men do so,? Qaisra said

As I seek kind and gentle care

Dearest, would you ever dare?

**********

All I truly want is? you!

Your cherished company is the magic dew

That rains on my paper and noshes my poetry

Dearest, without you, my words are null and empty
